Damn I own this record and still never listened to it much. Can't remember it all - will jam.

It's a lot more engaging than I remember. I recall being a bit turned off by the sterility of it initially, but now I think it sounds great. I guess it's fitting that an album named 'Surgical Steel' has such a clinical production!

Still a great album and better than most of the old schoolers!

I love this band. Great comeback album. They just know how to riff.

Is Swansong actually worth listening to? Only other Carcass I haven't heard is the first one & I wasn't massively into Symphonies so maybe I wouldn't like it.

Backtracking a bit, but Swansong is definitely worth a listen. Very strong Maiden/Thin Lizzy vibes, w/some early 90's Symphony of Destruction-era Megadeth influence as well. The album is really just full of catchy and anthemic metal songs.

Sounds like a hard 3.5, I'll check it out.

Yeah this one is quite solid. I started off at a 3, but I gave it a few more listens and I got it at a 3.5 now.

It's not an album I revisit regularly though, but it deserves a higher score due to it being a much better comeback album than their contemporaries.

I think this can be my ‘I don’t want to ruin Heartwork by over-listening to it substitute album’
