Personally, I like this one better than TBYB, because of a simple reason:

The vocals on TBYB suck on most songs. Chloroforme Perfume is a great song, but on the passages where there is the multi-voice singing, I can barely stand it. The prodcution of TFWL is much better IMO.

Why I like this record that much is because of the good combination of hard and mellow parts. Ok, we can argue if songs like No Trivia are so good (many will say it's too poppy), but overall it's the more mature album for me.

A question btw: How many singers are in this band? On TFWL, it sounds like there are two guys working, one melodic and one screaming, like in Funeral for a friend. Can anyone back that up? I can find no info on that one on their homepage?

My rating: 3.5 - 4/5 :thumb:

There are two singers, the fag drummer and the lead singer.

YES! Thank you for seeing it my way on the vocals and production. Musically, TBYB is a beast, but the subpar vocals and lackluster production bring it down a LOT. I don't mind the poppiness, and I love TFWL. I love "No Trivia".

The lead singer/fat guy Ben does all of the screaming. Fran, their drummer, does all of the "singing".

I remember when I went to see them when they supported The Starting Line, and when we came out, my friend insisted that they were mimeing because he never seen the dummer sang.

It was very funny.

I just realised i used caps in this post without even knowing.

Just what I think. I would like to hear a re-release of TBYB with a better mixing and production. That would be a killer... :thumb:

So, with the singers it's like with Funeral for a friend, just the other way round. Hm, good to know.

I've never heard TBYB, but I was hooked by TFWL. I really don't like emo of any sort most of the time, and the drummer could tone down vocally, but its not a bad album or band-they're metal enough for me.

I bought this album yesterday and I think it's very good, I don't have TBYB so I can't compare it to that. I personally really like the drummer's singing voice and his scream is even better (too bad he only screams a few times)
'Autumns Monologue' is amazing, is that the same singer as on the last track of TBYB?

Yes. Her name is Melanie Willis, and she sings in an awesome rock band called One True Thing. I recommend them.

I dont understand why everyone calls the drummer francis mark "the bitch *** faggot drummer". I personally think he has a very good singing voice and it blends nicely for the melodic parts.

I don't know why but the way the singer sings, I never have one fucking clue of what he's saying. Milligram Smile for example.

This is actually pretty tolerable, if not just okay.

Autumn's Monologue is a letter to the male singer in The Fiction We Live, and The Fiction We Live is his reply. One thing wrong with the review, Track one is The After Dinner Playback, not payback.
