Don't get how this isn't death metal. It's different from practically every other band and it's a far variation of the genre, absolutely, but this is still reasonably categorized under death metal.

its really just prog metal with rough vocals, that isnt what constitutes death metal

listen to scream bloody gore or leprosy, that's death metal

you'll notice they are quite different realms of music

Oh yah absolutely, I've jammed all of Death's shit and there is without a doubt a massive change in sound from albums 1 to 7, but I still hear a huge amount of dm elements beyond the vocals in this album. But, in the same way, I can hear traces of prog metal starting with Leprosy and thrash in all of their albums.
