I think both are within the 4/4.5 range for the metal users of this website, which means they are well-received albums. Not
sure how anyone can give one or the other a 5 before we see it actually released. It needs to pass the time test. A classic is
always a classic, if you lose interest later it's not.
For example I can jam The Gallery after a break of a week or so and it sounds just as fresh and powerful as ever.

That's fine then. I hate when people say the most recent album they listened to that was above average is the best album
ever. It's like they have a short attention span...

I know what you mean Jacq. I've rated a number of albums 5 and reviewed them as 4.5 because personal taste =/= grand scheme of things.

yeah I know, I just get defensive about bands I feel loyalty to and end up sounding stupid.

Yeah but my way of rating things is weird. An album I consider perfect or near enough to perfect constitutes a 5. An album can be a classic and I'll acknowledge it as such but only rate it a 2 simply because I don't like it. I also don't consider a lot of the albums I've 5'd to be classics. Basically I rate exclusively on how much I enjoy something, and for now, I can't really fault this, though my opinion may change.
That's not weird, that's how it should be tbh.

Unless you 2 Land of the Free or Panopticon. Then we might have issues :P

Agreed.

It's more consistent for sure, though it's hard to beat the first three songs on Destroyers.

This is exactly how I rate music. If I don't like a "classic" album I'll rate it according to how much I like it. However, their is very few classics I don't like.

Also, not all classic albums have crazy-high ratings. Venom, Steely Dan, Kiss, Sex Pistols, etc have
albums that aren't more than 4 but were extremely influential.
