p4k with a hell of a review, too
"It’s an album of real stakes and bone-deep commitment, where any honest interaction, of mind, body, or soul, is preferably full-contact."

Knots is a nice progression from Distal. And another great review compliment it.
|
| |
so p4k gave this an 8.1. I didnt realize they knew anything existed outside of kanye/radiohead/trendy vampire weekend-
esque stuff.

They're always looking for new underground shit to put the hipster label onto. They did it to Deafheaven, now they're delving into emo a bit.
|
| |
You guys are so dense

Ian Cohen reviewed "Opener" and then went on to review the album as well. I reckon he discovered the band by the same means we do, and then shared it with the staff. Don't forget that Pitchfork isn't just an entity putting out reviews, they're also music lovers looking to promote great shit they find.

Kidding, man. I love it when a band like Crash of Rhinos or Julia Brown hits Pitchfork, just because it means they're getting exposure to a whole new audience and at a whole different level.

Ok great, I wasn't sure :>

wow dim backpedal harder

well, i agree that p4k writers may like music, but their owner/ boss dictates all of their ratings and direction.
|

Yeah pitchfork isn't complete hipsterdom. A lot of good seemingly unknown bands do get covered and get a lot of attention because of pitchfork.
|
| |
plus p4k introduced me to the meadowlands so they get a lifetime douche pass for that alone
|

but their owner/ boss dictates all of their ratings and direction.
evidence for this? seems like a common myth more than anything
|
| |
i imagine the illuminati are somehow involved
|
| |
had no idea this was out.

You have to make a way trough tons of Pitchfork approved shit before you find a decent band. They also tend to give ridiculously high ratings to bands that somehow sound out of the ordinary (but aren't necessarily good).
|
| |
album doesn't disappoint so far
|
| |
officially treeqt approved. sweet.
|
| |
i wish there was more lean out and less post-rock
