Yeah, this is closer to nu-metal than anything else.

maybe i have a misconception of what nu metal is because this sounds absolutely nothing like any nu metal that i've heard

Me too, Lloyd. I associate nu metal with bands like limp bizkit, Korn, Papa Roach, Linkin Park and Staind.

You know... stuff that I hate.

If all the genres with "metal" in the name had a party, nu metal would be the annoying genre getting white girl drunk and annoying the hell out of everyone I assume.

Early Deftones is fuckin good. I still have a soft spot for Linkin Park though.

Haven't listened to this so idk but if it is 'close to nu-metal but not quite' then shouldn't the much broader "alternative metal" serve as a better descriptor?

I think calling this Nu-Metal is going a bit far. Good review nonetheless.

"...and Ian's best vocals are not hard to come by on Themata.": Maybe consider '...and vocalist Ian Kenny's carreer-best work are not hard...'. You never mentioned Ian before in the review, and people unfamiliar with the band will be like 'dafuq is Ian?'

"It clearly about overcoming a terrible experience of some kind': should be "it's".

"The entire first half of the album follows the same trend as the first two tracks, but they miraculously pull this off without any song sounding the same." Lolwut?? If the songs don't sound the same (which they don't, they all have completely different moods and structures), then what is the 'trend' you are talking about? That the track-listing then goes 3, 4, 5?

" "Scarabs" is a heavy metal-like instrumental this is masterfully played and intense.": Should be 'that' instead of 'this'

""Sewn And Silent" is a mellow track with acoustic track": Maybe "Sewn And Silent" is mellow with an acoustic track... flows better?

"on their newest record": could get confusing in a few years time when more records are released (fingers crossed)

""Change" many be a disappointing album closer,": Should be 'may be' instead of 'many be'. (disagree wholeheartedly on this point, btw)
