Review Summary: Malice of Magum Heart + Mirrors+ Syth= Absent Light

After Five years Misery Signals profound accomplishment with "Controller" now we have their fourth album "Absent Light"

This album is about 42 mins and 52 seconds long roughly 11 tracks of new material.

Upon listening to this album i have noticed a couple of changes in Misery Signals Style. First in comparison to there previous work this is more of a early Hardcore sound. This change is not a negative whatsoever. Especially with the addition of a new guitarist "Gregory Thomas" His guitar work is superb to Misery signals. Karl's vocals are still as earth shattering as ever. They are to a point in which i can see heaven bowing down at his performance. The rest of the band have the flash like they always did and stellar in creating a new path for the band to experiment down. The production value is very spot on for a album of this sort but sometimes spotty.

A new welcome change to sound of Misery Signals is the use of synthesizers in the music as well. I found them to add dynamic layers and feeling to each of the tracks in which it was used. Especially on track "Luminary"

Overall this album is a step down from the "progressive" side of "Controller" to a similar stance they had with their earlier works around the 2000's.

I would summarize this as Misery Signals' most dark release yet, which is good and bad. The bad part...

Taking energy from their previous works, Misery Signals have succeeded in giving fans something akin...

We all give up eventually but for Misery Signals that day is not today...

I like it more than Mirrors. Mirrors is my least favorite but it's becoming a fan favorite on this site suddenly.
