random blurb of the day*
jay z has been a hit or miss lyricist for the wider margin of his career and for the most part his
songs are just continuous reiterations of his capitalistic success

Every high profile guest spot on this kills. THe Pharrel produced song is sick, Part 2 is one of his best jams ever, Holy Grail slays, and the Rick Ross jam is fucking on point.

yeah ok honestly wow what the fuck why is this so dumb?
the beats are so fucking good but Jay-Z just is not relevant at all anymore. like why the fuck is anyone still paying attention to the drivel that comes out of his mouth? He doesn't even sound good on this album, he's out of his comfort zone and sounds like he's trying too hard. But it also sounds like he's trying too hard to sound like he's not trying too hard.
ugh, idk, back to Run The Jewels. Jay-z: Get off that "throne" you never had a substantial claim on.

@Aids
there's no substance on Heaven, Jay Z Blue, or Nickles and Dimes?

Then you're clearly listening to this album looking for whatever you want and not hearing what it's actually offering.

can we talk about how the album title is bad

i'm still trying to figure out why jay z even acknowledges the magna carta.
oh wait.. just came to me...his last name is carter.. fuck.. how fucking original
thought he was actually going to bust out real political knowledge
fuck this, fuck jay z

I guess my opinion on rap is of limited value because I can't get into the genre
|
| |
nah jay z lacks depth you just need to find actual lyrical and profound artists

Album Rating: 1.5
maybe, I don't think it's even that though
I just can't get over how spoken word (which I'm fine with) is used as a artistic medium, seems kinda shallow in itself
|

i actually do agree with that
