I love Fake History and never listened to their first album.



I don't like to say the production is bad, sometimes poor production can work in favor of an album but the production really doesn't suit the album and what it's trying to do. They should of stuck with the same sort of punchy production Fake History had and this would be 4/5, instead it's 3.5/5.

Review seems kind of unnecessary when a short sound off would suffice: decent music with bad production. Maybe if you elaborated on why you think the production is bad?



Anyways, the production isn't really why I dislike this. Just sounds run of the mill to me

Your review pretty much encapsulates my opinion of the record (although i think the songs are good enough to warrant a higher rating from me). No matter how good i could think this is, the production would always bug me.

the problem with the review is you didn't really say much i thought



you said they rip off glassjaw, the vocalist puts the team on his back doe, and the production sucks. is that really the only problem with this? what does the album sound like? you don't really explain how they sound, other than that it's like glassjaw, but if i've never heard glassjaw or fake history i won't know anything here. how did they evolve from fake history to now? also, are they exactly like glassjaw (they're not, but the review doesn't answer this either)? also is the production really the only problem with the album? your review makes it seem that way, but is that really enough to mark it down to a 2.5? there must be something else that is problematic; you mention that sometimes the vocalist has to steal the show but why is that? does the band not work well together, are there too many egos, etc?



not trying to be a dick i'm just saying that there's a lot of stuff that i wished you would have touched on. the review makes sense to me but only because i've listened to glassjaw, fake history, AND this. i can infer what you're getting at in the review but only because i know what the blackest beautiful sounds like and what its merits/flaws are, but i'm not sure that someone who hasn't heard this yet will get a good idea of whether they'd like this or not based on this review (unless of course production is a massive turn off to them). just a few thoughts; i don't think that explains the negs - i'm fairly certain those are just people disagreeing with the rating - but it's just some of my thoughts on the review if you're interested.

To put the production in perspective, it's like downloading a 320 kbps leak (come on, I know you've all done this) only to find that it's really just a muddy, awful sounding 128 kbps transcode. This might be a slight exaggeration, but it's in the ballpark. The guitars are muffled and lack any kind of punch whatsoever, the drumming is way overproduced which is extremely detrimental for an album in this vein, and Butler's vocals are painfully overproduced at times as well.

I appreciate the criticism dude. I know this definitely isn't my best review and really the production is my biggest gripe. 2.5 is probably a bit harsh on my end but damn it's just so frustrating. Honestly, this review is a bit on the rant end of my spectrum. But yeah, should have definitely included more actual description of the album.

I'm not entirely sure what I think of the review, it's clear that your only real problem is the production, so, it's kind of difficult to buy in as to how can the album really suffer so much from this when you don't really explain it with much of a punch, more examples and bigger expansion could've helped.


It's not a bad review, but more content would've make me pos.

No you're most definitely not, everywhere I'm going is ejaculating over this thing.

It's a similar thing that happened with 20/20 experience, if you revert the fact that the reviews were
very mixed and here they were praise

Just got my download link from kingroadmerch for my preorder and the production sounds much better

than that supposed 320 leak. Vocals are still overproduced but everything just sounds more like fake

history, don't really know how to describe it
