I can see that. He's got one of those voices that reminds me of a lot of people for some reason but still sounds pretty distinct. For the longest time he reminded me of Jesse Lacey and now I couldn't tell you why

Hmm, I thought this was gonna be generic risecore but it seems to have some depth. Sounds quite a bit like Thrice.

Not super into this though, and it's long as fuck.

i would try to listen to this but the fact that it's longer than even the post-metal albums i listen to makes me hesitant

Even if the album is too long, there's some awesome songs in here that you gotta check out

@clavier: I think they've progressively gotten more focused on instrumental wankery, which I still love, but this is their most balanced release imo. Some of the best vocal performances are on this album and some of these songs are altogether addicting. I highly, highly recommend digging into this.

will do, i'll just have to get used to the vocals (being a latecomer to the Night Verses party who didn't know of them until the Copper Wasp EP)

I remember it took me a little getting used to as well, but I did eventually go from that to missing him now lol. I'd even enjoy them featuring an artist on a track on occasion like Strawberry Girls, Russian Circles, etc.

They had a very short and honestly uneventful Instagram post where the vocalist from HRVRD sang on the end of No Moon. Nothing exciting but atleast it's clear they're open to it.

how does ITVL compare to this one?

If I remember right HRVRD's vocalist would NOT fit well with their sound. Gimme Thomas Giles, Cory Brandan, Kin from Twelve Foot Ninja, Keith Buckley, Anthony Green, Spencer Chamberlain, Daniel Thompkins. Singers with a dynamic singing styles and the ability to adapt to music that can go from 0 to 60 and back all in a course of 5 minutes.

ITVL makes for a stronger release as a whole because of how the album sonically fits together, but the vocals seem to be unnecessary sometimes and distract you from the best parts of their songs. A lot of the individual tracks on LYE are better than most of the songs LYE and the vocals fit much better with the band as I think they weren't so focused on virtuosity (sic). Pick your poison.

Yep, ITVL was better than the sum of its parts, while this was worse than the sum of its parts since it's just so long. This album is definitely more 'fun' than ITVL which is kind of experimental and a little weird.

If you want vocals, check out the new side project by Night Verses guitarist Nick DePirro. If the breakdown of "Control" does not remind you of this album then I don't know what does
