I think the biggest accolade with this is how well it eschews being completely and utterly cheesy and overwrought and ends up just being a fantastic melding of neoclassical and orchestral black metal.

It’s because last I heard instead of releasing a single album like a normal citizen he was recording two double lengths. Which is the best news if it maintains the quality but I don’t see how that’s even possible

Pretty good but also just a bit too bloated. Night Bell and Smokefall are rad, though. Prob my favs off the album

I had a friend whose sister and her fiance were really into this band, so they got them to play at their engagement party. That was an interesting night.

This album is really solid, I should listen it more.

Surely his new ones are finished now.

His city has been on total lockdown for 4 months (the government paying us equivalent to our work income) he literally had nothing else to do but finish these fucking albums.

Now that's some excellent news! New Kauan, Empyrium, Duskmourn, Tribulation, Shape of Despair, Ad Nauseam, Ruins of Beverast, possibly/hopefully Moonsorrow and Be'lakor(?), and now Aquilus: this year is shaping up nicely for metal.

Can't wait to get some great metal from some understated giants after such a shit year. Hope the rest of the decade shines more than the very start of it gloomed.

'The new Aquilus album "Bellum I" will be released by Blood Music sometime in the coming months. The sister album "Bellum II" is almost at the mix stage.'
