Guess I'm just nostalgic for his older stuff. Such a shame he doesn't bring out his bass anymore. Almost getting an epileptic attack from his live visuals, wasn't all that fun either.

And new Gold Panda is awesome, c'mon. :]

I love the new direction he's going in, which is weird because I hated Shobaleader.

But I never liked Gold Panda to begin with :P

I see where you're coming from, even if I have to disagree. To each his own, I suppose. BTW, I'm guessing I should be jumpin on the new Fake Blood Fabriclive mix ASAP?

"Oh please, I've heard three or four songs off this and they were annoying as hell. You can argue that the current deep dubstep scene is getting kinda stale, but on the other hand, don't try to fix what isn't broken. Especially when the end-result is something like this album."

I don't really see how you can apply "don't try to fix what isn't broken" to something you're admitting may be getting stale. I wouldn't ever be opposed to someone attempting to approach something from a different and (somewhat) unique angle, and ESPECIALLY not when the original style is getting stale. You don't like the end result so you'd prefer swindle just stuck with the standard sound, but the effort to do something different is commendable even if it doesn't please everyone.

I don't see how anyone could find this offensively bad though or even different enough to be bothered , I mean a good chunk of this (Forest Funk, Running, Start Me Up) seems pretty well-rooted in the sound people like Joker have been working with for years now. The real charm here is how much fun it seems like Swindle had making this kind of stuff and the result is a charming, and yes a very light and sometimes cheesy listen. If you're looking for standard Medi fare this isn't it, but it's seriously just a harmless effort to squeeze something fresh out of dubstep.

Wasn't intending that to sound as attacking as maybe it did, I just really disagree.

"I'm not saying everything Tempa releases is gold these days, far from it actually."

Dude Tempa has been destroying 2013, forthcoming Nomine and J:Kenzo EP's are looking large as well, I'm assuming Proxima's album (which he's apparently almost done) will drop on the label and that's going to be a big release for sure

"With the idea of taking dubstep and fusing it with a different scene or culture, this wins out over something like Mala In Cuba "

How does it compare to Submotion Orchestra's "Finest Hour"?

It really shouldn't be compared to Submotion because it isn't at all aiming for the same result (I wouldn't compare this to Mala In Cuba either for that matter). It's more upbeat and "fun" than something deep like Finest Hour.

There's a stream in the first comment though so take a listen if you're interested.

Ah ok. Yeah I just listened to it. It's just when I read a review about Jazz-oriented dubstep, Finest Hour is the first thing my mind goes to.

Not your cup of tea then? I don't know, I'm always a sucker for some over-the-top electro so I may give it a go. Plus, Mixmag gave it an 8/10 (though they also gave Chroma Chords a 10/10 so I don't entirely trust their rating system)

FB hasn't really been good since his early stuff (Mars, I Think I Like It etc)

I really dug Cells, but that Fabric mix is terrible. Avoid.

@ TMob: maybe I worded it somewhat strangely. I just mean that I mostly prefer an unoriginal but very well-executed style, over something new that imo just falls flat on its face. I'm legitimately hating this, sorry man.
