Nice review...I mostly agree. The thing I dislike about this album the most is how front-loaded it is. All of the most energetic tracks are out of the way, for the most part, in the first 5 songs and the "slow burners" that you talk about haven't really registered with me yet and I'm not sure that they will (the lyrics are nothing to write home about...I mean, I easily could have written them). I also don't get any comparisons to Chase This Light (besides maybe that 'Lean' sounds a little like 'Carry You') because that album was all about epic production and glorious pop melodies whereas this is a waaayyy more reserved effort.

Also, 'I Will Steal You Back' is so good it makes my head hurt.

This album is really really reserved. So much, it hurts my head. Why, why does it seem like they didn't try on this one?

Normally when something feels lacking in effort I look to the label - they'll often pressure a band to release material by a certain date which is obviously problematic because as a musician you write when inspiration strikes you...not when you see an X on a calendar.

But in this case, the album was produced by JEW so there was never a rush to get this out. Personally, I think it is a decent album - no more, no less. Unfortunately though if you think it sounds like they didn't try, then that's probably just where they're at in their careers. There was nobody holding a gun to their heads and making them release this.

I wish there were some more upbeat songs on here. It just really lags in some spots.

The album would just be so much better without byebyelove.

There's a few of the slower ones that I could do without, but other than Appreciation and Steal You back, I don't have names associated with songs yet. When I listen to this at work, its shuffled in with 4 other albums, so I haven't heard it straight through.

With Damage, I feel like its good, but not finished. Some good moments but nothing really gave me the chills like futures or static... For how long it took to come out with this album I think they could of done better instead of sticking to the conventinal norm.

Man... I Will Steal You Back is ridiculously good. It kind of makes the rest of the album sound like crap in comparison.
