I hear 0 David Bowie. It sounds like a long-winded, decent follow-up to Era Vulgaris and TCV to me.

Nothing really grabbed me on first listen, but then again it's a quiet leak with the volume changing. I was multi-tasking too, so when it gets on Spotify I'll give more listens.

Yeah I'm holding out. How long is it, out of curiosity?

Smooth Sailing is the closest they've come to Bowie (best song on this one).. none of that going on on Villains..
|

Yeah i'm not quite seeing the Bowie connection most of the time tbh.
Calvin and Hobbes is legendary.

What if the early leak was really a vinyl rip this entire time

That's my favourite too, butcher.

Smooth Sailing and the opener are my two least favorites on here, even though they're great songs.
Villains is around 45-50 minutes iirc

No Bowie vibes in Fortress, the second half of Feet Don't Fail Me, and Villains of Circumstance? Josh's vocal delivery is very much influenced by Bowie in all of those tracks.

I think people are misunderstanding my initial point... 3.7 should be a good score but because ratings tend to be quite high here at Sputnik, it dilutes the strength of said rating & what they're supposed to indicate. You can't say on one hand that scores are inflated in general & then use the fact 3.7 SHOULD BE a great score in defence of the average because we're on Sputnik, people are rating this on Sputnik.
I give up.

How are people NOT hearing the Bowie influence on Villains? Homme is beating you over the head with it, especially with his vocal delivery. Hideaway is especially blatant.

Yeah, there's definitely some Bowie.

It's not even some Bowie. Josh's pretty much prancing around in a Ziggy Stardust suit. This album is Queen's Scary Monsters.

I've heard that he still hasn't taken off that leather jacket from the first promo video
