Review Summary: Discovery...and nothing short of it.

Taking the scene from raw, 90's inspired house in Homework, to authentic, 70's/80's inspired disco-pop in "Discovery", Daft Punk's second studio album seems to be with every listen, nothing short of a compelling, breathtaking, dance, emotion-filled and all around crowd pleasing and heart warming experience.

"Discovery" is that kind of album that can please two crowds. That crowd who demands high energy dance music and that other crowd who likes more slow, chilled out songs. In which this case, this album seems to accomplish both very well and in good fashion. It's balanced by the compression and energy of songs like "One More Time", "HBFS and "Crescendolls" , yet the mellowness and chilled out vibes of "Something About Us", Veridis Quo" and "Face To Face". It sounds like a journey, with something fresh and exciting around every corner and every track perfectly placed with top notch consistency. While the album differs in time compared to their first studio album "Homework", each one of these songs seems just about right with their time, making their groovy beats and catchy lyrics more enjoyable and more consistent with the flow of the album, making it one of those albums you can listen to all the way through, without getting bored or skipping tracks. The lyrics on some of these songs on this album can really get to you sometimes, again something for two different types of people. The catchy, repetitive, auto-tuned lyrics of "One More Time", and the meaningful, reverb-y lyrics of "Something About Us". The vocalists featured on this album are talented and so are the lyrics they present.

"Discovery" contains samples from 70's and 80's disco-pop. Daft Punk are not only revolutionizing dance music but also bringing back an old trend, an odd thing considering what they were doing on "Homework", which is also why this album may not be cooking for some considering that it's style differs so much compared to "Homework". But really, it just shows that these guys are open to making anything as long as it sounds good, which this does and you will also find that every single one of their albums seems to be something different every time, but it's still recognizable as Daft Punk because they have that signature sound that a lot of bands and artists carry around with them. A musical symbol....something that people will always seem to REMEMBER them by and it's all in their music.

Over all, this album is something that all generations can enjoy and it is also a pure, blissful journey along the listen. "Discovery" is quite frankly nothing short of it's title.

Oh yeah and about the recommended by the review section, I know RAM isn't out yet, but I have a feeling from the teasers that the music sounds like this.

Last sentence: "its title", but other than that good review.

Also, from the way you describe it, this album seems more a 5 than a 4
