I just discovered this band and this is one of those CDs that sneaks up on you and can't stop listening. It is nice to hear guitar soundscapes that are not overly technical but executed with perfect style. The live concert DVD is excellent as well - consternation.

Costernation is a pretty sick song...i like the atmosphere of the album but the vocals are kinda boring at least to me...musically i'd give this a 4 but vocally about a 2...are the vocals any more dynamice on their older albums or is this pretty much what you get?

last fair deal gone down and viva emptiness are way more dynamic vocally

Vocals are what makes this album for me actually.

yeah actually, the vocals do attribute to the atmosphere, kinda cool how Jonas doesn't need to show off to come off as unique

they remind me of the guy from dredg's new vocal style that are well prduced but lack any human quality or real emotion...i just get really bored with albums that have weak vocals or soaring unemotive ones

i know bro no worries...i just read the vocalist lost his ability to scream so i understand tho i probably won't get into this much more then i have...what album would you recommend when he still could yell that brings the most dynamic attack and is the most enjoyable listen

actually not a Katatonia cd, but if you can find October Tide's Rain Without End, Jonas has a pretty mean scream on that, also his last harsh vocal performance. But if you want an example of his singing, check out Last Fair Deal Gone Down (Katatonia), also try to get the extra EP tracks off Teargas and Tonight's Music if you canThis Message Edited On 09.10.08

Brave Murder Day, it actually has Akerfeldt scream but it's Katatonia's best album. In my opinion at least. Very doomy.
