"That summary is not a particularly easy-to-answer question, by the way. "
it's a pretty easy-to-answer question though, it is for me at least.

Toxic amounts of brostep
I mean I can get down with the wubwub but that just sounds awful.
|
| |
Well, then again, his name IS Brostep after all

Apparently no longer a guy though

Hi Dev! Long time no see - I've missed your general cuntishness (good thing, don't worry) and it's nice to see you commenting again.
I guess what I'm going for with this is that I've got a bit of pent-up anger about people who don't take brostep (EDM in general if you will, though I know you hate that term) seriously. Maybe I've been on the wrong parts of Reddit, maybe I've just been looking in all the wrong places, but I wouldn't have written this review if I didn't think it was relevant. It's honestly more of a cathartic piece than anything else - it really felt good to talk about this stuff in-depth for the first time in a while. I wasn't really "desperate" when I wrote this - I've been planning this for a while, assuming the album was any good (which it was). And I'd hope I described the album well enough (hell, I got my second feature on this, which means I'm doing something right, I guess). I just think this was something I've been needing to write for some time now, and now that it's written I don't have to write it again, which will be nice.

Ok I'm listening to this and it basically sounds like DnB with a ton of electro elements but I'm not
sure where the -step comes into it

Relapse is one example, but since I (probably incorrectly) refer to heavy dubstep, some heavy electro, and some heavy DnB as brostep I figured it would be OK. We've had a discussion about this already but I like using it as a blanket term rather than the specific dubstep genre
|
| |
Not exactly sure how it works as a blanket term either to be honest. When most people talk about
something being 'brostep', they're just talking about electro elements but don't realise it
|
| |
The word itself has almost become a meme, a blanket term like hipster.
|
| |
I swear this album doesn't even have that much 'bro'-step

Probably wrong here but that's what I go for as well in general. Not like Boys Noize electro elements but like the stuff all over the Scary Monsters EP. Like only 2 songs from that were actually straight dubstep but it's like the quintessential brostep release also because of songs like Kill Everybody and Rock And Roll.

Ok I just heard Big Bounce, yeah there's quite a mix of the brostep and drum and bass. Overall liking this, though the beats could be stronger. Still do love chaos theory.

Just looked back on my comment and realized I used the word "like" 4 times in 3 lines.

Light Cycles is beautiful.

Haha, I was looking up glitch-hop because it's such a weird movement and "Big Bounce" came up. Fun song, obviously a bit derivative, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

It's all right, one of the weaker songs off the album but solid nonetheless. If you liked that check out "Escape Reality (Synchronice Remix)" by The Bolivian Marching Affair
