Volbeat are usually Sputnik darlings, I suppose most members are still just enjoying the album instead of trolling the internet over it? Surprised this album hasn't been featured yet.

I would like to think so. I thought this album was fantastic and I've enjoyed it more than I ever thought I would. Too bad it was

just kind of glossed over.

I'll admit I'd never really given this band a chance before listening to this album, but now I'm so glad I have. Literally every song here either cheers me up or makes me bang my head in appreciation. I read up before that the band were influenced by Rockabilly/Southern Rock whilst sounding just a bit like Metallica (don't ask) and it's quite obvious on songs such as 'Pearl Hart', 'The nameless one' and 'Lola Montez' that these influences are used to the full extent. I think though that the best songs are the heavier and darker ones, such as 'Dead but rising' and the flawless 'Room 24' (with King Diamond who is, as always, useful)-they just grab my attention that bit more than all the others. I'll certainly be seeing this band if they tour anytime soon.

it's not that bad, though i did listen to this a few of times when i first heard it and haven't since in full which probably isn't a good sign.

Doc Holliday is basically what all of Load/ReLoad should have been for Metallica. It's bluesy, has a Hetfield like rat-a-tat lyrical style, but is across the board better produced and more musically interesting.

Whilst it is probably their weakest, there are some excellent tracks here and they translated well live.

For example, Room 24 is absolutely killer, one of my favourite Volbeat tracks!

I hear the Lonesome Rider every day like 20 times on the radio. Getting pretty sick of it.
