Listened to a few tracks. Solid but not overly impressive. Will take a few more listens I'm sure. Probably won't beat White Tomb though.

Well, maybe we have a different view what "real metal" stands for, for me its the hair metal crap, like Iron maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, Overkill and so on. For me this is laughable stuff, if you think different, your choice.
Good older metal is Cynic, Watchtower, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Voivod.
To each his own, but telling me to listen to "real metal" in a news about a post-black metal band is just pathetic...
