Cheers guys!

I'm gonna have to check this out, Ive never loved anything he's done but every release of his I find a couple tracks I can get into

Yep, same here. Although I find this to be his most consistent release yet. Here's Your Trance, Now Dance is still his best single tune though, gonna grab it on vinyl soon.

is there pornography on this

Only implicit porn.

look at dese mods though, honoring all my bleep-bloopy feature requests. cheeeeeers.

I wouldn't say there's an arrogant undertone in his music at all tbh, weird claim

It's the way he lets his tunes play out. He doesn't really lets them develop, they're just there; what you hear is what you get. Other Detroit artists are less like that, imo.

My personal favorite is by far 'Amalthea', it's so simple yet captivating.

After running through the album 6 times, I can say that the 2nd half is dry. The first half is fantastic though.

There are many snazzy tracks on here

Check out this compilation for some names to get started. Guys like Rick Wade, Kassem Mosse etc. http://www.kompakt.fm/releases/laid_compilation_cd

Also DJ Sprinkle's recent mix 'Where Dancefloors Stand Still' has a whole bunch of cool stuff on it.

"Artwork doesn't have a circle in it. People won't show up."

Are you guys sure this is electronic music? :/

Just been chilling, enjoying the summer down here in NZ. Cool to see stuff like this and Ellen Allien getting reviews on time, as opposed to years after release.

I agree with that. I really like a lot of the ideas here and I groove to pretty much every song, but each one feels like it should have ended after 4-5 minutes, not 6+

I'm guessing it's better seeing this stuff live, but it doesn't work so well on a studio album IMO. The don't play out well at all. This guy straight don't give a fuck, you're right about that. He's just like yeahhhhhh here's a bunch of 6 minute songs that have no business being that long, listen to them fuckers!!

like why is Rewind so long? it's basically just that one beat the entire time with an occasional bassline and the chick singing. and then we he does start exploring it's super aimless and just not that exciting.

super lazy track, don't know if I can even call it that, but that's the first word that springs to mind

I've never been able to get into this dude, not sure why. Seems like something I would dig but even Here's Your Trance didn't do much for me. Might check this out eventually, too much good stuff out right now though. But glad this got a review.

I'm the same way. I generally like the whole deep house thing, and this guy is supposed to be like the poster-boy of Detroit's scene, but I never got the hype.

That said, I did recently revisit his first LP and I liked it way more than I did the first time around. Still not sold on the other two though.

Yeah I only listened to his first one when I had shit tastes so I owe it a new listen at some point but his last one didn't do much for me.
