I do0wnloaded it buyt i'm still buying it because its sic and even though some of the **** is a little softer, but its raw because they went with Rick Rubin (Slayer, S.O.A.D, others)

Reading this thread gave me a headache..
I have no idea why Slipknots music attracts so many morons, but because of the fans, I'll never really bother to listen to Slipknots music

Rock/Metal bands BETTER than Slipknot: (better being objective, but in this context it applies to originality, songwriting or technical skill)

- Dream Theater
- Deftones
- Incubus
- Jane's Addiction
- Godsmack (yes, as far as metal goes they are MUCH better)
- Metallica
- Pink Floyd
- Queens Of The Stone Age
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
- System Of A Down
- Tool

Not to say slipknot aren't good at all, but right off the top of my head, there are some bands who have done more original things, have had better songwriting, or more technical precision and skill: three things that almost any musician can recognize as status sayers of a musician. Whether or not Slipknot are more audibly pleasing is up to you, but BEST BAND EVER? Just because they're your favorite doesn't mean they're the best ever. Not to say, don't listen to or like them, but you have no base of fact to claim that they are the best.

I swear, if most of Slipknots music wasn't enough to send me away, the idiocy of most of their fans is. Most of these people also believe Joey Jordison is the greatest drummer of all time.

The one that costs £8.99 is just the album and the one that costs £9.99 has some extras that will let you unlock some stuff on their website. As for the Japanese version I don't think you really need that as there are already two decent versions for you to buy.

Getting it tomorrow! I like all kinds of metal, Slipknot is just one of the bands that I like. I know they aren't as talented as some other bands, but I still think they rock.

Got it today, listening to it now in fact, it's different from their older stuff, Iowa was too "We hate the world, I'm gonna kill you motherfucker".
My faves on here are:

-Vermillion Part 2

Vermillion Part 2 is something I wasn't expecting from Slipknot, an acoustic song, with, dare I say it, emo-ish lyrics, but so what, it's quite a good song.

On Before I Forget, I believe Shawn Crahan (Clown) does some of the vocals.
Anyone else having trouble getting onto the website with the secret tracks on the limited edition CD? I opened the Quicktime movie, it counts up to 100, and does nothing:confused:

it will be strange seeing how slipknot interpret the acoustic material live bearing in mind their aggressive image, their new music generally, seems quite layered in places too.

I dont like new slipknot.

Got The Subliminal Verses today and it's really good. It's much better than Iowa and probably better than the self titled album. I even like the acoustic songs.

same thing was happening with me.

goto edit>preferences>quicktime preferences>connection speed and up the connection speed a bit because i think since mine was on the lowest setting it was only letting just a little info at a time (like a restricter valve) and making me wait (even though i have broadband) and once i changed it from 56k to 768KBS DSL/cable it started playing for me.

Dude are you ****ing kidding me? Go get a life before you post **** like that again. I can't believe you could put ***** bands like JANES ADDICTION, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Godsmack, Incubus in front of a real metal band like Slipknot. You obviously don't like metal music posting bands like that so don't speak your word on a subject you don't understand.

I just bought this CD today and ran through it once, I'm not a huge fan of slipknot but I did like they're self-titled album, I haven't really listened to IOWA- but anyway- this CD does have its flaws but its so worth buying :evil:

Amazing how Slipknot forums always turn into flame-fests at one point or another... Just wonderful isn't it? I have to agree with rockstar06 though, if you're going to compare bands, at least compare SIMILAR genres. I mean they're great and all, but how in the hell can you compare RHCP to Slipknot?!? If you must compare, go with bands more like Lamb of God, Motograter, Mudvayne, or MAYBE Killswitch Engage. Sorry but get with it. Oh and on the subject of the actual thread... Yeah this is a great CD, I haven't gotten my lazy *** to the record store yet but my friend let me listen to his... Just awesome, except as everyone has said, the acoustic... What the hell happened there??? Other than that, great stuff they definitely thought out the music more, not so much just chugging like S/T and IOWA. I'd say 4.5/5 overall.

I got vol. 3 when it came out. I played it a few times and i think its crap. The acoustic songs suck. When i first listened to duality i figured it would be their single like wait and bleed and left behind were. Only thing is wait and bleed and left behind were not the best songs for their albums. Unfortunatily duality is the best song on the album, and i dont really like duality the lyrics are stupid and the music is nothing great. I was disappointed. Maybe i don't like it cuz im in shock over them sounding different maybe in time i will start to like it. O well thats my 2 cents. For those calling them selves maggots grow up don't be slaves. Its just music get a F'ing life. Don't get me wrong slipknot is my favorite band,But its still only music.

I've only heard Duality and Pulse Of The Maggots. Duality is alright but I thought POTM was a bad song.
The s/t album was brilliant, and I like it a lot more than Iowa. Iowa has more blast-beats and such but the songs just aren't as memorable (sic, eyeless, no life, prosthetics, etc).

Plus the lyrics for the chorus of Disasterpiece are so bad....they could easily be mistaken for lyrics from St Anger :eek:

He mentioned rock/metal bands, with better songwritting and technical skills, because the guy he was addressing said that Slipknot was the best band in the world. Most of the bands Scythe listed is metal bands.. Especially if you call Slipknot metal
