It's funny how lots of reviews are praising this as being a better album than Angles when that record was much better at experimentation AND had better individual songs, but that's just me.

This is probably a better overall album than Angles just because of the fact that there are no outright duds on here, but

there's nothing really great either. Even the best moments are just pretty good. It's a real bummer that they aren't

planning on touring because at this point seeing them live is a much more appealing prospect than getting a new album.

edit: Totally agree with Jom, the Strokes are a band that are going to be looked at a lot more fondly years from now than

they are at the moment. Ever since they released Is This It their have been a lot of people that are turned off by the image

of them that has been conjured up by the press and shoved down our throats every time they release a new album. Once

we can get to the point where the music can be separated from the "image" and hype that they can't seem to escape, I

think appreciation for both Room on Fire and First Impressions of Earth will go way up.

no i meant rift as in the rifts in the band, like they weren't enjoying each other's company very much...

I've never even seen them live and I regret it so fucking much now... I really feel like crying.

I think The Strokes put on the best live-show I've ever seen, to be honest

Would love to see them again. Hopefully, they'll put out something new in a few years and tour again, but who knows?

Gotta Say that the Gaslight Anthem know how to rock out on stage as well.
