I think Picture Perfect is my favorite on the album. I don't even know how they put that riff together. And then the evolving bassline behind it... genius. At once really creative of them and yet pure Sevendust.

This has become my favorite album of theirs. It's so consistently enjoyable.
And I think the title track is my favorite, I keep replaying that one.

I dunno if I'd go that far. Animosity and Hope & Sorrow definitely have the most replays for me. But I'd definitely throw "Nobody Wants It" and "Picture Perfect" on a best-of mix.

Chapter VII was my favorite before this album. I didn't actually think they'd ever do anything I'd like better than that album, but this really surprised me.

everything this band has done has replay value for me at least.

Yeah. I've often wondered what Animosity would've sounded like if it hadn't been written in the midst of all that nu metal tomfoolery. Probably a lot like this.

Good review. I haven't listened to the album (yet), but I've liked Sevendust for years. My own tastes in rock have paralleled their efforts in many ways. Lajon's voice is unique...and sometimes has a haunting lilt. It's great to hear that he's toned down the profanity, which has always been one of the things I've disliked about previous albums.
Looking forward to hearing the full album (when I can get ahold of it).

Has sevendust ever had a real abundance of profanity??

every album from animosity till Cold Day Memory has a parental advisory, and the first two albums have plenty of F-bombs, even without the sticker

This album has no profanity which is surprising.

definitely their most mature record lyrically

The singing on this is so incredible. Picture Perfect and Decay would be almost average if sung by anyone else. And yes the lyrics have improved.

Really surprised, it's definitely their best album since Animosity... or fuck it, their best album overall. Like the guy above me said, they nailed it vocally.
