What annoys me is a good amount of people who highly rate this band say their one of the few very good metalcore bands left. However, when you go through their ratings, the only good metalcore they rated are Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, etc. Nothing really special to protect that statement about Northlane from those bands.

This horrid thing is a breakdown-centric affair without any originality whatsoever, which is odd considering how hard they're trying to set themselves apart from the rest of today's metalcore. I mean, yeah, there's atmospheric elements, but they don't add a damn thing to the music. It seems like they just threw it in there to say "hey look at us! We're different!"
