This album shreds from start to finish. In Vain really trimmed the fat. Now they're a lean mean riffing machine

Songwriting wise this a huge step up for them, but to be honest, I kinda dug the atmosphere of their debut more. I've discovered over time that I am unable to really rank In Vain records. This one is most coherent in the best way possible, but standouts don't stand out as much as those on their previous two records, which in their turn had some duds on them as well.

I remember jamming this when it came out. Horrible album cover, but the music was pleasant. Can't remember why I put it aside (though, in 2013 I listened tons of new albums, so it's only expected).

yeah this album is weird for me as every single aesthetic related thing about this band is horrible and I usually dislike these sort of prog-melodeath bands, but for some reasons this one hits a soft spot for me
