I kinda agree, but I thought it was the perfect move. It's not that far off the sound of xx but it experiments with it a lot more, so it's interesting but familiar

like, everyone in the world listened to this album as soon as it came out. they sold-out ever date on their world tour with no trouble at all.

Everyone bought it/listened to it, but no-one talked about it. No-one invested real time into it and saw the stellar album it was.

I would largely agree with that, but a "sleeper" is something that no one listens to and then all of a sudden everyone gets and realizes is amazing. Not many people were like "oh wait this is awesome" 3 months after (or whatever). It got so so much coverage, not a sleeper at all.
and idk i'm still not seeing this as a "stellar album"
