IDK it's an album review not 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe. It reads a bit pretentious IMO, that's all, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. It is well written and all and it is informative. So you have a POS from me regardless.

In what way does it read as pretentious?
Not to sound too defensive, but I believe it's my duty to write something beyond 'this is a good album, got some great solos and nice riffs. "Fade to Black" is pretty good'.

Of course Benjo. I agree with you regards wanting to put more substance into your reviews and this is encouraged.
This stood out to me:
'The title track follows quickly, giving the listener little time to recover, and whilst the lyrics are rather sub-par and chock full of heavy metal cliche, the slick musicality of this number is unquestionable, especially when it comes to Kirk Hammett's impassioned soloing.'
Remember it's opinions, not everyone is going to like your work.
I repeat what I said earlier - I personally find the review well written.
Others might not like that style hence the negs from them.
My advice, don't take negs to heart, it doesn't matter.

I'm glad you appreciate my review. I'm always trying to push the standards of album reviews, especially in metal, as I find a lot of metal reviews juvenile in nature, whether they're amateur or professional.
I don't take negs to heart at all. Whilst I believe the review I've done to be of a high standard, I very much appreciate constructive criticism and as such I wish I could find out what warranted such a response.

This is a good review, informative and enjoyable. Bear in mind though that at the end of the day it's a matter of taste whether someone likes this style of reviewing, you can't keep everyone happy.
