Of the 3 times I've seen them, they have been great/meh/bad. Chino's either on, or he's not.

last time i saw them it seemed like there was a convention for the worlds tallest people going on. I'm by no means short, and it was hard to see for the majority of the show

My favorite song on this has gotta be the title track. It's so damn catchy.

does this require time to grow on you like their others? cos I feel the same way about this as I did when I heard Diamond Eyes, which I eventually bumped all the way up to 4.

i'd say so AnarchistFish. It's just as impressive as White Pony and Diamond Eyes, but people love to differ on which is the best.

this is a bit less consistent than White Pony, Diamond Eyes or (imo) self-titled. but the best songs on this are all-time Deftones classics.

@AnarchistFish - I'm going to say no, not at all. For me this album dicks around a whole lot less, and basically if you enjoy "My Own Summer" you're in for a great ride.

well is it likely that even if I love white pony and diamond eyes, I won't like the rest of their discog?

Everytime I'm in a really angry, pissed off, fuck the world kind of mood, this album is the first thing I always turn to and just blast and let Chino's screaming take out all my aggression for me.

Might have to 5 this. It's basically perfect.

Thanks for all the comments! I really feel this album needed another look by people, it is magnificent. I was not intending to say it was far better than any of their later work, only to say this was a defining moment for them that really pushed them into the public eye. I agree that White Pony may be their most mature, musically adventurous masterpiece, but they tend to not repeat themselves. So with Around The Fur, it has a life of it's own in their catalog, just considering the sheer heaviness and momentum it carries on for nearly all 10 tracks.

Be Quiet And Drive....best song to listen to in the car when driving home from a 12 hour shift at work.
