You, sir, are an idiot! Well, okay, I have no idea if you are an idiot, but I can't believe you thought that. The only thing that sounds the same is the terrible lyrics...
I don't see how anyone doesn't see a very very strong Incubus influence on the self-titled cd.
Second, it sounds good.
Not to me.

Hoobastink suck. Why? Because they're a new modern mtv pop band. Because the singer's voice is weak and boring. Because the music lacks creativity and pure emotion. There's nothing wrong with using power chords if you know how. Nirvana did. The problem is so many new bands think that they can suck at playing guitar and suck at singing and still be good. That's the monster MTV and the desire to get laid has created.

when i heard their first self-titled cd, i found hoobastank to be not bad at all. then when their second album came out in late 2003, for reasons unknown, i didn't buy it. after hearing the reason for the 1000th time on the radio (and reading this review), i'm glad i didn't.

Hoobastank has to be one of the worst bands I have ever heard. First of all... The reason is the WORST SONG I HAVE EVER HEARD, the drumming in it is about as repetitive as it can possibly be and any idiot with a guitar can play the whole song through. The singer looks like his face was melted into mush, which is plainly reflected in how bad he sings. I have no idea how they managed to get a record deal and I sincerely wish they were non-existent. For the sake of music. Dont even reply to this if you think hoobastank is in anyway good cause youll look like an idiot who has no idea what music is.

thank you for not being an idiot, asymm.
*high fives*
Youre the most worthless piece of shit ive ever seen.
It takes a real loser to take enough time to write something like this. And what makes you so high and mighty as to go and diss the fans.
If you dont like the music than dont fucking listen to it jackass, and let people who do listen to it do so without getting harrassed for it.
People are allowed to make negative reviews.

Are you stupid, Kaden? We're all supposed to like every piece of music that ever gets recorded. Even Jojo. Whether it's a 13-year-old girl telling her boyfriend to leave or Hoobastank telling some girl that she's the reason to start over new, it should be embraced with equal fervor. Should Slayer or Sunny Day Real Estate or Radiohead get any more acclaim than the aforementioned musicians? Of course not. The world is ruled by communism and everything is equal. Silly Kaden.

This band sucks. Thus, I commend your review. If the self-titled one doesn't have one, please feel free to mock that one, too.
|

can i print your review and put it on my wall
|

i think this review was fair
it made me think quite abit about this kind of stuff and even the stuff i play in the band im in
gj

Well, after getting out of my hoobastank phase, and listening to this album again, i don't like This album as kuch.
But the review was still bad, no matter you agree with it or not. And Hoobastank is not nearly as bad as everyone says they. Sure, they are cheesy mainstream rock and they bang their heads WAY too much in their videos, but it isn't like it is complete crap...

True and good review
HOOBASTANK REALY Sck !!!!

the reason has the be the most god-awful song i've heard in a long time, and im not just jumping on the "hate the reason" bandwagon here. even the first time i heard i couldn't not believe that anyone would stoop to write and record such uninspired and overtly-melodramatic shi te
....but at least its fun to sing when your drunk and you have a bad voice.

Good review, but I'll bet the kids at your school are going to hate you for that.
|

it's a decent cd, i guess, but the title track was the worst song on that cd and shouldn't have become as big a hit as it was.

You thought all that the first time you heard it? I only ask because it took me a few listens to figure that out. The first time I heard it, I couldn't think of anything besides the desire to vomit. It wasn't until I was sufficiently desensitized to the song that I could analyze it like that.
And here I hold nearly indisputable proof that The Reason is some of the worst trite drivel to come out in the past ten years: My dad likes the song. This is the man who listens to nothing but modern country (you know what I mean, the twangy pop stuff that should be an insult to anyone). The modern country isn't the worst part of this, though, whenever I ride with him (my vehicle was destroyed this summer) and complain about the "music" that's coming on the radio, I get a lecture on how I need to be more musically open-minded. He then proceeds to inform me that all my music is, is machine guns going off while some guy screams. (I listen to just about anything from classical to death metal).
So anyway, family vacation, he's consented to throw the radio on a top 40 station, and The Reason comes on. My brother and I instantly groan and request that the station be changed (hell, I'd rather listen to Toby Keith than this song), and he states, "I like this song. It's pretty." And there you have it, folks. THis is the mentality of the average "music" fan. This is why Mtv still exists, why powerchords now dominate the airwaves, and why any musical progression or deviancy from the norm is dismissed as noise: because the average fan's thought process on hearing something new is, "Ooh! Shiny!"
This may be a stupid question, but what does everyone mean with 12345??
GREAT review by the way.
it's a person's way of agreeing with someone, there used to be a 5 character rule, now it's only three
so people (mostly) now say '123' when they agree with something

great review, when i saw the subject line i figured it was going to be a positive review, I was like, oh no... if there's anything the world doesn't need its more supporters of Hoobastank

This is my 69th post, time to celebrate. :amaze:  :thumb:  :naughty: :D

You guys are bashing Hoobastank a bit too severely. I don't exactly like them, but they're not THAT bad. Compare them to something like Good Charlotte and they're Godly.
Sure they're not as good as some other bands, but they don't absolutely suck.
Plus some of their older songs are listenable.
