"I still think that prog rock is dying every year because of people like you."

Jazz is not "underrated" because of its complexity, its "underrated" because people think that's "too cerebral". Jesus Christ, every day I find a reason to make myself mad in this site.

yes but how many jazz musicians write armchair psychology rock operas about being locked in someone else's head or dish out adorable allegories of ticks as m e t a p h o r s for criticism and inspiration

Jazz isn’t underrated and neither is Prog. It’s just that degenerates - a large percentage of humans - have no understanding of or appreciation for it. I like it that way.

What's all this about jazz? I'm all about rock brother! R-O-C-K! I ain't got no time for your fancy trumpets and your sissy little brush sticks!!!

"This “laying the groundwork” for Hardcore and Prog Metal though... omg lol"

An absolutely true statement. Most late 90's and modern day Hardcore bands were very obviously influenced by this album.

That dude that said Meshuggah weren't influenced by this album... I'm pretty sure they said in an interview that Metallica were their favourite band in the world and that they ripped their signature staccato riffing straight from the 'One' breakdown lol

i think people take it too far when they compare early meshuggah to metallica, to the detriment of material like contradictions collapse which is a lot weirder than people give it credit for, but the influence is absolutely undeniable...

Yeah Fredrik definitely took the influence and Thordendal-d it up; it's not a carbon copy.

But unlike many here I adore this album anyway so saying CC was highly influenced by this is a massive compliment for me.

pika is hipster trash he has no say on this album whatsoever, he only likes hipster black metal, he even gave and justice for all by metallica a 2/5, how much more hipster can you get than that? Dont listen to this guys about anything whatsoever.
