this album is a bit darker than the first one in terms of lyrics and sounds. Julian Casablancas sounds depressed through a lot of the songs (reptillia, whatever happened, i cant win. most of the review i can agree with except with between love and hate and meet me in the bathroom. between love and hate SUCKS strokes songs always seem to have something interesting in them (the bridge in 12:51, all of hard to explain, the bored chugging beat of meet me in the bathroom, and even the bassline to when it started) but this song has nothing to it. and its the song i never listen to on the album. which brings me to the next one rate meet me in the bathroom higher than the useless filler that is between love and hate

i think the cd is awesome as well very melodramatic and great songs. i like how their sound is pretty experimental in the sense that not many bands sound like them

The songs I've heard off this album sound pretty good. Cool review too.
My friend has this, maybe I'll borrow it off him...

The Strokes are one of the best bands out there, who cares if there stuff isn't too hard to play, they play what they want, and how they want, and don't take any crap from anybody! in my opinion both albums are amazing, i have both of them and listen to them regurally, i give each a 10/10!

I don't think they're always that easy to play.. Reptilia is a pretty complex song.. took me ages to get the solo and chorus right..

To me, this album cannot be any more boring. They should either start taking drugs, or reformat.

Good Review. I like the strokes. i like there sound and attitude. I dont knoww why but I do like this album more than "is this it?". I think its because when they first came out there sound was new and on this album they didnt really raise the bar they just kinda matched it. But what do I know. id give it a 8/10 i think the songs have more character on this one.

I like The Strokes but I prefer Is This It? as an album. That said, Whatever Happened and 12:51 are the best songs that they have ever made.

It's kind of a rehash of their first, but I still like it. I prefer The Strokes to a lot of other garage rock-revival bands out there.

it's fun to listen to, but i find too similar too Is This It.

still, discerning the fact that it's similar, to someone who hadn't heard the first album, it would sound great wouldn't it. so yeah, it is cool.

8/10

I don't find it to be that similar to the first album. Sure, you could pick it apart and say "they used the same this or that here" or whatever, but it jas a completely different feel, and is a lot better in my opinion.

My friend would love you. He is in love with this cd, he actually bought it on vinyl. I like this album, I really like what they do and I like their guitar work the best. I just hardly ever feel like listening to it. When I'm not in the mood for it, it bores me to death. 12:51 would be in my top 20 songs ever though, that songs i brilliant and their guitars sound awesome. I want a Fender Deville. I'm looking foward to their new album a lot.
