Ive heard this album play 3 times in a row at my librarian friends apartment while high on various substances, and I still couldnt enjoy it. And drugs made me appreciate a Sunn O))) live audio bootleg recording. So I doubt I could ever "get it" personally lol

Sometimes 'getting it' can make you like something more though.
If you understand why certain things were done in a piece of music, or a film or a painting or whatever, to make you feel a certain way and it achieves that purpose you can maybe admire it a bit more

That may very well be true, but "getting" something is very unlikely to make you like it.
Like, some albums, I get them, what the artist was going for and what they inteded, and respect them for trying, and all that stuff, but I still don't like them because I'm just not a fan of their sound.
Simple as that.

Yeah, what you speak is logic. I didn't find this review had logic. I saw a paper thin description of the album and a flurry of "it's shit", then completely derailed when the review called anyone who like this album "a pretentious artsy student ***, who is a huge cunt but just doesnt realise it because his mind is clogged with *** as his head is ploughed deep within the depths of his own ass."

These guys may say they created this music because it made good music for when they were chasing old women down the street at night, a caper aid if you will.
These guys may say they created this music to play to their newborn children to see how it would affect their behaviour in later years, an experiment if you will.
These guys may say they were on loads of drugs and wanted to see who could last the longest playing the same crap guitar riff over and over again, an endurance contest if you will.
But I'm gonna throw all conspiracies aside, because no reason apart from the ones I just gave, would make this more enjoyable.
