Haha, I can't imagine he'll ever be able to replicate your style, I'm seeing Solterra as perhaps becoming another Scale The Summit/Animals As Leaders clone perhaps
It's so sad what happened, think you'd ever get back together with the guys or are you moving on?

Idk man, there were several factors which led me to leave. I would be down to work with Chris (the
bassist and producer/engineer for Solterra) in the future, I really would like to be on good terms
with him but I dont know if it will happen. As for the other members, I dont know if we will work
together in the future. I do miss all the music I wrote and contributed... but they replaced me, so
it's really in their hands now

Ah that really sucks, all the members of the band were excellent players and the production work on Umbra was fantastic. Solterra will never be the same without you.
Whatever happened about getting the copyright on the songs you wrote?

Twlichty will live on through his solo stuff.

Nah finbar I haven't. Listening to this now tho after about a year of not listening. The drums are
what make this album awesome

The drums on this are incredible, especially on Fear and Loathing. They sometimes make me want to learn to play just so I can play this.
The bass is also brilliant, never gets lost in the mix, at its best on Umbra.
The guitar however, is definitely what makes this. I've almost finished learning to play the whole of the album myself, and I think it's brought my playing on a long way, plus I'm getting the hang of delay effects. Your guitar is like your third hand man, never stop playing.

Just realised it's probably my favourite song from my favourite album of all time, does that make it my favourite ever song?
I so need to review this and get dem feelings out.
Not a single imperfect moment here.

Plz let it grow, takes a while to properly appreciate what's goin on with all the instruments

I never like this mathy-post rock stuff as much as everyone else seems to though. I mean I don't hate it, but it's just like post rock with all the emotion stripped out in favour of spindly guitar stuff
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Fair enough but for me the guitar gives the emotion in tracks like Umbra
I know what you mean, I'm not a big math rock fan which is why I prefer this because it's more chilled out and delay-heavy

You don't seem to dig much instrumental stuff at all JS.

Album Rating: 4.0
Lol like 50% of my music is instrumental stuff. I just don't dig wanky stuff like AAL, rubbish bandcamp bedroom djent projects and a lot of 'mathy' stuff : D

| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Yeah I'm the same, never saw the attraction of AAL or STS really, and bedroom djent lol it's pretty awful. I wouldn't call this mathy tbh, having played it on guitar myself it's not too complex, and the music isn't trying to be complex, it's just trying to sound... awesome

Might have to give this a couple more focused listens if it's as awesome as you say then : )
