Well, I do hear that a lot here instrumentally wise. I don't really know what else to classify it as, I mean like I said, it's not the purest and truest form of technical death metal, or the heaviest around, but I really hear them going that route on here.

Personally, I think people are just ignorant and shut their ears as soon as the word "metalcore" is spoken. Seeing that this album is actually good, the fact that you didn't use the term "metalcore" may be ok. Because then people wouldn't be turned off by it automatically. But whatever, people will still be ignorant no matter what. Thank God you can hear the bass on this album though!
