I clarified that on the last page. If Drake was running around like he's the best MC then yea I would give him shit but overall it's not really that big of a deal. It's so common in music

i 100% believe guys like joey badass and denzel etc. do it all on their own. hell i even believe j cole writes all his own stuff (as he'd prob be a lot better if he didn't).

but when you reach the kendrick / drake level its because you have a great team of trusted collaborators supporting you, on top of already being a great writer yourself. you're just part of the machine at that point

love kendrick to death and while i highly doubt people are spoon-feeding him bars there's no doubt in mind that everything he's done since at least damn (and especially since his 2021 return) is probably screen-tested and tinkered to death. his verses are wayyy too polished and perfect to have been done with zero help.

for instance not like us was co-produced by sean momberger... a guy most known for working with artists such as jack harlow, chris brown, and iggy azealea among others. not to mention jack antonoff being all over gnx. these guys aren't in the room to make beats lmao

is biggie out of the running for best rapper because he had some verses written for him and assisted with?

what makes you guys possibly think his bars are "screen-tested" and made with help. because he's gotten better at writing them than he was early in his career? lmao

butt.

Compton and good kid are underrated ngl. I’ve never understood why so many people act like money trees is the standout here. Just don’t get it at all.

"one of the dumbest rap takes i've seen on here in a while"

i mean its literally as simple as looking at his track credits

the only people credited on nearly all the gkmc tracks are kendrick, one single producer, and whoever might've been featured / sampled on the track.

compare that to gnx where there is 8 writing credits not named kendrick and five producer credits on fucking "dodger blue" alone. you click into all these guy's wikipedias and they're all "producers and professional songwriters" that have credits with a murderer's row of way more commercial leaning rap and pop artists.

the funniest part is not only does jack antonoff work with kendrick but sounwave works with taylor swift lmao.

Sometimes the credits are live musicians, that was definitely the case on a lot of TPAB
