Love this album so much it hurts. And this band. And Steven Wilson.

But I agree. What he is doing now is cool, but early (or middle) pt is where it's at.

I am not quite sure where I rank this album on PT's discog. My personal favorite is Fear of a Blank Planet, but I mean, all their albums are phenomenal. Also, for some reason I prefer the live version Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth. Maybe because the synth part is replaced by the guitars and it just sounds better to me. Anyways, good review.

great review, but i have to disagree with one point. you mention that bass isn't important / audible after this album. the bass is still quite audible and imo, important on later albums.

i know reviews are opinions, but the way you said it kinda made it seem like a fact

"...4 fantastic studio albums that founded new boundaries for psychedelic and space rock"

Don't know if I'd agree that they really founded any "new boundaries" with their first few albums - I mean a lot of it had been done before (Pink Floyd, anyone?). Still it was more enjoyable I think than their recent albums...

Good review though. I think this, Stupid Dream and The Sky Moves Sideways are their best.

Nice review man. The variety on this one is pretty astounding. Circus noises, cult excerpts, Chinese and Indian instruments, pop and prog sensibilities.
