Best grunge band, although Pearl Jam beats them in terms of best live performances

I honestly don't even think the grunge bands are really all "that" comparable to one another in terms of how they sound. AIC, as far as I'm concerned, is pretty damn metal

yeah all of the big grunge bands are pretty different. Pearl Jam sounds absolutely nothing like Nirvana

They all came from pretty distinct roots

Nirvana - punk/noise rock

Alice in Chains - doom metal/sludge/blues

Soundgarden - psych/blues/70s hard rock and metal

Pearl Jam - 70s/80s classic rock/post-punk/stadium rock

Obviously there's overlap here and there, but yeah

Doesn't suck per se, but second half does sound like hair metal at times. Especially Put You Down and I Know Something. I guess that was the early AiC sound.

Unpopular opinion here it seems, but this was really tough for me to get through. Album felt like it dragged on and Layne's vocals left me exhausted.

Man In A Box and Love Hate Love (until he went all dramatic towards the end) were fire though.
