One of my favorite concept albums, maybe even Nr. 1. Why I hadn't rated it yet? Don't know. Maybe revolution was calling me.

I figure I better go to this tour when he comes close, you never know when we're gonna lose a legend.
I think his voice sounds better now than most of the last decade honestly. It's the dorks he plays onstage with that bother me, and how he presents himself. he's always acted above the metal community but simultaneously fully depends on their support. Dickhead.

bro I don’t usually care about aesthetics but god those guys are fucking lame lmao, it also just looks so weird because Geoff is old as shit but all of these guys are like 35. Would not be shocked if anyone around his age knows how much of a prick he is so they won’t play with hi

Yeah its just strikingly odd seeing guys who could easily fit in as Taylor Swift's backing band up there with one of the architects of one of the best bands of the 80s and early 90s.

There was a time when this was a top 20 album all-time on this site and its completely ridiculous that I even notice it but it annoys me scrolling past some of the albums on that list to get to Mindcrime now lol

Last week I completed the brutal slog of listening to the albums after Promised Land; latter Geoff Tate but pre Todd La Torre. Obviously, Chris Degarmo’s departure had a lot to do with their downward spiral; even though Degarmo contributed to a couple of those albums I think he was already checked out. With the exception of a couple songs, it is all just blah.
However, I will always consider Operation Mindcrime to be one of the greatest albums of all time.

You have more heart than me friend. I haven’t listened to any of those records outside of a song or two in over a decade.
But yes Mindcrime is a top 5 album oat no questions no objections

Each album, even dedicated to chaos, has a redeemable song or two, american soldier is actually an OK album experience as it picks up in the second half iirc. but it's been five years since I gave the dark era a listen since I made a playlist of those songs lol.

I'm one of the few that enjoys most of Ryche's "dark era". Def not the same after PL, but I get my kicks. This year I might get more into the LaTorre stuff.
