"Dickinson was never that great tbh. He was always occasionally off-key and especially on the later albums you can really hear him straining to hit the high notes and it's hard to listen to"

Hate to admit it, but you are right.

Any album with vocals like these would go down smooth, damn. It really good.

Tate in his prime had superior technique to Dickinson, I guess. But singing in these registers as a baritone all the time is probably very hard. Maybe that's why he stopped doing that at a certain point. Myabe Grunge killed him. I'm not sure

Tate in his prime is the best vocalist of the ‘80s. He wipes the floor with most rock/metal singers

My dad told me he followed them around on the Building Empires tour in the ‘90s. Said he saw them five or six times and they always played this album in full. Lucky fuck, I would fucking kill to see these guys play Mindcrime in their prime just once.

I can’t think of a single thing I don’t like about this album.

I almost hate bringing up DeGarmo, but man I miss his vocals too.

I guess it just comes down to personal preference so....

Ray Alder > Geoff Tate ... by the slightest

Guess I can't be mad about it, but I can heavily disagree. Ray has definitely matured more gracefully.

I'm in the camp of Geoff 80-92* is basically untouchable though.

The real in their prime clash of the titans is:
