Survival actually starts off ok and then just goes full retard about 2 minutes in

It would be too easy to pick out bits that justify upping the rating to 1.5 or 2. You could easily do

that, but it would mask the fact that for two albums in a row they've tried feeding this sickly stuff

to their fans and it just isn't good enough

I gotta say I love Chris's songs, Supremacy was pretty good, if not completely over-the-top, but the rest of the album ranges from painfully average to absolute crap

i actually have to agree with darth. so far this is a 2 for me, and i don't see it going lower. it's

not good, but i'm not seeing it being that bad

it's a critique of current day muse as much as the album as a single

entity. cos I might not have been so harsh had I not felt that Muse were so

blatantly ripping their fans off. But this is still shit. Anyway I need to go to bed now

man this got bumped down the user review thing really quick

don't worry, i sympathize with you completely. muse is balls now and yeah bellamy is a cunt. i'm just saying objectively this is bad, but doesn't deserve to be as low as brokencyde and shit like that

just listened to panic station. catchy as hell but not great by any stretch of the mile.

however, everything else i've heard from this is horrifyingly bad. so i'm staying away.

i wasn't talking about the average rating, i was talking about people giving it a 1, which there are a lot of. the average rating is about right. this may actually be a 2.5 for me, there might be enough redeeming values scattered here and there

I honestly don't get all the 1s and 1.5s this album has been getting. It's hardly on level with Lil Wayne's Rebirth now is it?

who rates albums based only on their relation to other albums?

Gonna have to give this review a thumbs down to be honest as it doesn't seem to point any flaws out

with this particular album, it just seems to me like a blog post ranting about hating Muse. If this

were a review on Muse as a band I probably wouldn't negative it but this doesn't seem to call out the

album for being bad as much as it does the actual band.

For what it's worth, I think the album does have some pretty terrible tracks on it, as have the past

few Muse albums.

I do, but mostly only in relation to the band's other material.

Like if two albums by the same band are really good, but one is definitely better than the other, one

album will get the 4/5 and the other 3.5/5.

I don't hate Muse. At least, I don't hate old muse.

it doesn't seem to point any flaws out

with this particular album

"It is neither catchy, original, deep nor interesting. Every inch is overproduced into an

overambitious mess which just ends up sounding hollow, every melody is dull and with every falsetto

and faux-string accompaniment you get the feeling that Muse have completely fallen into the trap of

believing their own hype"

I didn't really have anything else to say apart from that and ripping off other artists.

But yeah I did have a lot of fun writing this lol

they should've released the bassist's songs as an ep or something amirite

that's what i'm saying, they could've just done that and gathered their coat hangers and aborted the rest of these songs

They should've just tried to focusing on making an album with a particular sound rather than trying to squeeze as many genres as possible onto a single album. Ween are the only band who can pull that off.
