The new song was pretty dull.

Yeah I didn't really feel the new song neither. Hope the album will be more interesting than Leaving Meaning

"i have to admire the output of this band so far in their career. I've missed their last two albums but i'm sure that's like 3+ hours of material"
You have to take into consideration Gira is damn near a senior citizen and still a beast on stage.

Gira unfortunately sounds like a senior citizen on the new track. Pretty dull for sure.

Damn, he hasn’t even reached retirement age yet and he already sounds like M. Shadows

@jayender - no it’s a beige cover like the last three albums (and demos) and it’ll be printed on the same material as well. The white background image uploaded to Sputnik is not what is seen on their website.

what about Sputnik's own senior citizen reviewer Shadows!
"Swans music can most accurately be compared to snowflakes. Every snowflake is unique; diverse; one of a kind. Each one has something special about it. On its own it symbolizes the advent of something beautiful and captivating, while as one of a flurry it falls serenely, forming a picturesque scene so stunning it defies words. Just like snowflakes, every Swans song is special in its own right. Within an album, the music is like a flurry ensnaring the senses with emotionally charged progressive. Given the excellent structures and production values of The Seer, the tidal waves of emotionally epic drone crash down harder than ever. Words cannot describe the beautiful pain inflicted by such progressive drone."

Really excited for this release. Even if it might not compare to previous releases it will still be new Swans and that is always a good thing. Even Leaving Meaning had more than enough character and charm to keep me spinning it months on end and finding new things inside of each song.

The new song sounds mighty fine to me. But then I’m one of the minority that thinks leaving meaning is a great album with a vibe all of its own to separate itself from the trilogy. Slow burning meditative Swan jams are as much my thing as crescendo violence.

Yeah the Seer, To Be Kind, and Glowing Man are all incredible in various ways but the plodding slow burners needed a break to be honest. Leaving Meaning had a brightness and shimmer to it that was a quality that set it apart from the last few albums. It almost has a Soundtracks feel to it in places (albeit with not as strong content). Some of the highs on Leaving Meaning are far beyond anything else released in 2019 I'd say, but the lows are also very glaring

New song is adequate but twice as long as it needed to be, and Leaving Meaning is my least favorite of theirs since before CoG even tho I generally dig the more meditative tone.
It’d be nice if they tried a return to shorter songs like they were doing in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The Daughter Brings the Water, Song for a Warrior, Finally Free, and What is This? are all excellent.
