It really does. But I saw them play a chunk of it live, in sequence, and it actually fared better in the energetic, chaotic live environment. I was pretty....KEEN....on Keene's live vocals too, which I heard were hit-or-miss.

It was actually more enjoyable than when I saw them playing Planetary Duality stuff a couple years prior.
But sitting down and putting this on in some headphones? No way, pretentious and misguided and boring.

New song is good. Fretless is making it sound like Cynic worship on the heels of all that Devin Townsend worship, but that's an influence I don't mind ripping from. Just needs better production. Drums are anemic.

It did sound really good live actually, the trilogy songs do work to some extent in that setting. Altough they were playing with a bass track or something because Evan Brewer had left at that point.

Really enjoy the ending solo sections at the end of II & III. Other than that, "Accelerated Evolution" is ok, and "Ten Billion Years" is sort of interesting.

It's funny, because I told my friend who was going to Summer Slaughter to not be shocked if The Faceless didn't show up, because they're notorious for dropping out from gigs, and they had already missed the first date of the tour. Then they post something like "See you guys in Anaheim tonight!!" (the location of the show I'm talking about) and I get a text saying "Dude, The Faceless didn't show up" and I was just like "hahaha I told you"

..I have no respect for bands like that. Bands like Incantation tour like 2-3 times a year, and they've been going for 25 years now, but The Faceless can't even make an entire tour?

Wait I'm confused about Anaheim and your wording, but they legit didn't show up for another just the other day?

Only songs off this that I come back to is the Autotheism trilogy, and that's mostly because Keene completely fucked up playing them on Summer Slaughter this year LMAO

Haven't heard this one but based on their others 2 isn't harsh enough.

Huge Opeth-tribute-wankfest with hints of former glory sprinkled in. Already betting $10 the new album in December is gonna bomb unless Keene got his shit together.
