This was great at first but it's beginning to leave a stale aftertaste

they're writing catchy pop/rock songs. it isn't all electronic-based like intimacy, but come on...

The songs here are just so much shallower though. I loved their other albums because there was an intellectual curiosity and emotional honesty. This has neither.

kele used to rule in the early days but the more time goes by the more cringeworthy stuff he writes

Apparently all catchy pop/rock songs use the same formula...

yeah i've really come around to that one. such a catchy rock tune.

i like how this is mixed with equal parts lighter, atmospheric stuff and their fast-paced rock-out songs

so this is actually somewhat good? I find it hard to believe they have enough juice to make a full album enjoyable. singles, yeah. but full albums, no.

I still don't get how people don't hear the difference. Intimacy was indeed a massive departure from their earlier stuff, but every song on it was first of all fully developed and second really fucking great. Furthermore, it felt like an actual album, with a loose overarching theme, diversity and band members who really poured everything they got in it. And it sounded like they really meant it.

Then came the backlash, they pulled the plug for the band and went on hiatus. Then they discovered people wanted them to come back, and they recorded Four, an album with half-assed songwriting, cringeworthy guitar parts, no theme, Kele's worst vocals ever and tracks with no soul at all. I gave it ten listens before I finally gave up on it and I never wanna hear it again.

Oh, and they suck live as well nowadays. Five years prior, they performed probably the best show I ever went to.

i'm legitimately surprised this is so panned by people here. there are so many irresistible hooks and fun choruses. lol i remember when treb said 'we're not good people' was like a nickelback song in that it's simple radio rock or something.

osmark: their most easily digestible and interesting album, i'd say, is intimacy. either way, their albums are pretty short so just go through one of em and find out for yourself.

Silent Alarm is their most fun.
