"California is such a good album."

mike patton is the most versatile singer ever even though he can be a little annoying sometimes
|
| |
Feels like he's mostly wasting his talent these days, although I found a lot of his vocal work outside of Faith No More extremely kitschy sounding anyway.
|
| |
Be it Mr. bungle, Tomahawk or Kaada, all you'll hear about is how Mike Patton is a genius or "God" as if he is responsible for it all.
|
| |
Regardless of how good it is, people still assume Patton is the mastermind behind everything he touches.
|
| |
That's because everything he's involved in is awesome. That common thread of awesomeness makes people assume he is mostly responsible for its presence.

Even Adult Themes for Voice?

this is what fanboys do
from interviews i've read i don't think he's tried to hide the fact that tomahawk is more of a duane denison project, same goes for some of his other bands

Will look into.
Don't like it when people say "off of" in reviews though, interesting read nonethelesssss

Album Rating: 3.5
I have always enjoyed Tomahawk out of all his works. This sounds like it is right down Patton's ally. He never puts out what you want him to put out, if he finds a sound that works he usually explores the hell out of it for one, maybe two albums then abandons it in the future. Continuous progression, then rigorous regression. Maybe I made it up, maybe I heard someone say it when we were rambling about music or maybe I read it in a review on here but someone said it best to me that "Mike Patton is the David Bowie of our time. You may not always like what he puts out but you gotta respect it."

Can't hurt to check this. Fantomas and Tomahawk are usually the non-Faith projects I listen to mostly, besides the Mondo Cane album

review is used as a footnote on this albums wikipedia page lol
