The Room's Too Cold is one of my all time favorite albums, so I was sure this would be my AOTY as soon

as they announced they would be releasing a new album. I pre-ordered it and saw them at their record

release show a month ago, and was not disappointed. This album is incredible, and easily my AOTY so

far. Favorites are Call Off the Bells, Close to You, In Currents, Tell Me Why, and Frayed in Doubt.

Guilt and Swell is also not talked about a lot and that's one of the best imo

after two listens, one where i was really really listening, this has moved from a shaky four to a solid 4 with 4.5 potential.

So this is really great and all, these dudes clearly know how to write a big, catchy chorus and a track around it. But in addition to the latter half clearly being worse, it becomes a bit predictable by the end and the late ballad-y tracks that might have broken it up a bit are pretty boring in comparison to the earlier ones.

I could see this becoming a 4 but I'm not sure I think this kind of thing has that much growing potential beyond that. BUT it is a great listen overall and the first half especially is pretty stunning.

While I agree the second half isn't as good as the first, I don't think the second half is as bad as everyone else who is giving this a 3-3.5

"The Smell Of This Place" and "Wearing A Tie" are the only arguably weaker tracks. Everything else is superb to me

I'm in the same boat. Guilt & Swell, That's Not Your Real Name, Like A Kid, and Call Off The Bells are all great. But even then, Smell of This Place and Wearing a Tie are solid/have some interesting parts.

Plus, Guilt & Swell and Call Off The Bells are the 2 best songs on the album :P So the "2nd half is bad" people can take some nice, plump, sweaty balls to the face
