"Manly, by typical definition, is rugged, strong, heroic, self reliant, humble, logical, a problem solver, a leader."
Well if we're just gonna make up arbitrary definitions of manly then I'm gonna say that manly is by definition slaying lots of pussy, or ass, as the case may be. Which Crue and Backstreet Boys definitely fit.

Well any dictionary definition just says something along the lines of "pertaining to good qualities traditionally associated with men"
| | | Haha fair enough. But as far as Motley Crue goes, and I speak as a 20 year off and on again addict, shooting heroin/coke, drinking to the point of oblivion and not respecting women/hitting women is by no definition manly.

Plus their music just oozes estrogen
| | | Some synonyms off the dictionary: how many of these apply to MC?
brave, courageous, bold, valiant, valorous, fearless, plucky, macho, manful, intrepid, daring, lionhearted, heroic, gallant, chivalrous, swashbuckling, adventurous, stouthearted, stout, dauntless, doughty, mettlesome, resolute, determined, stalwart;
| | | And yeah...the whole makeup thing...well, that’s feminine.

Considering that they're synonyms only one needs to apply since they should all mean the same thing.
ad·ven·tur·ous
adjective
willing to take risks or to try out new methods, ideas, or experiences.
Motley Crue is adventurous because their sound dabbled in both heavy metal and punk while creating an outlandish visual image for the band at a time when not a lot of bands were doing that. They also dabbled in pretty much every kind of addiction known to man which, despite being dumb as hell, is also pretty adventurous.
Ergo, Motley Crue = Adventurous = Manly
| | | Lol you’re stretching it brother. But let’s just agree to disagree.
If being addicted to various kinds of drugs and trying every type of drug there is is adventurous and manly, well then shit, I’m manly as hell.

"Rolling Stone's J. D. Considine found their style of rock formulaic, innocuous, and unoriginal: "The whole point of bands like Motley Crue is to provide cheap thrills to jaded teens, and that's where the album ultimately disappoints."[5] In The Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004), he dismissed the music as "a distressingly mild-mannered distillation of Kiss and Aerosmith clichés".[6] In 2017, the same magazine would later go on to rank the album at 44th, in the list of "The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time".[8]"
