@Dave I agree man. It's just solid all the way through. I think there are two songs that I really don't care for but the rest are so incredible.
"Ragnorak"
"Scarlet"
"The Gods Must Be Crazy"
@Ledd it's definitely one of their better ones but I don't think it surpasses either Juggernaut.

Ragnarok is top tier Periphery for me, always has been, i loved all their discog up til Periphery III

Hail Stan is more consistent definitely, but it wasn't as fresh and exciting as this.

Haven't heard that one yet, i listened just one song at the time and wasn't impressed really, sounded like them but on autopilot

Hail Stan was actually the album that made me stop listening to Periphery lol
everyone hyped it up to high heaven and then it was "eh"

Yeah, when djenty bands go generic (that's the case for most of them) they are really boring

Hail Stan is the same formula as select difficulty
Eagle/CHVRCH BVRNER = Price/Motormouth (heavy djenty song)
Garden/Smiles = Marigold/Remain Indoors (somewhat heavy commercial song, well as "commercial" as Periphery can get)
Ghost = Line-Stepper (half djenty song half clean song, Line-Stepper is FAR better)
Crush = Catch Fire (shameless shot at commercial success song)
Sentient = Prayer (heavy djenty song with a commercial song structure)
Satellites = Lune (feels are reals song)
The only thing out of the box on Hail Stan was Reptile, and that's a well-done song tbf, but it needed more of that. I still prefer Select Difficulty, because I just think the songs are stronger overall, also... Absolomb, there's no song quite like Absolomb on Hail Stan, that song alone brings it above imo.

@Tundra
I mean, I feel like there are a lot of bands out there that can get formulaic. Totally disagree about Sentient sounding like Prayer Position. That being said, I think I prefer III to IV.

meshuggah die-hard fans (and/or djent purists) should take notes, it's cool that meshuggah is your favorite within the realm of djent, but even if you don't enjoy the likes of Periphery, it doesn't hurt to be a bit more considerate towards the "new age" of djent.

they dont sound that much alike tbh

I don't event take the djent tag on it self seriously, just use it for common knowledge, but for me usually isn't about styles per se, it's all about a particular take on music (extreme metal in this case), Periphery manage to stand out among countless Shuggah clones for songwriting, Spencer's talent and stellar instrumental work

"they dont sound that much alike tbh"
THANK YOU!
I get that people don't like Periphery and that's fine because personal taste and whatnot, but not liking Periphery because "they're just Meshuggah ripoffs" is the the dumbest type of criticism the band receives.
I blame KILL.
