This is officially rated lower than Merriweather Post Pavilion. That's not right. Please fix, Jom?

I like this more than MPP, but this is also less accessible so I understand the rating.
Review is pretty awesome. I completely disagree with it but it was an entertaining read.

I see this more like a punk record so maybe that's why some hip hop guys don't like it idk

this review plays nicely into the standard "it's just too crazy and intense for you, dude" rebuttal that death grips fans like to fall back on
yeah this actively gives credence to that shitty argument. I like how earnest the review is, and I can see what he was going for, but idk it doesn't really work. Also the completely incorrect reference to chopped & screwed makes this review less credible, though maybe it works in the concept's favor, since he's supposed to be out of touch. The biggest problem is still what porch said though.

I agree with this review. I cannot for the life of me understand this music. If you like it awesome. For myself its just too chaotic and odd for me to get in to.

I can't tell if this is some elaborately done joke to mess with the people who would typically say "this is too heavy for you" or if this is truly your opinion. I like Death Grips, not religiously, but I find quite a few of their songs to be catchy and fun. That said, I don't get what your review's purpose is. This comes across as "I don't get it, it's too loud, so I guess I don't like it?"
Were I someone who didn't know this group, I would have no idea what this album sounds like or why it deserves a 2. As such, I can't pos this, but I won't neg since like others have said you didn't come with an air of "I know hip hop better than you suburban white kids."

Thanks for the various comments and criticisms. Yes, it does function as more of a thought piece and I left it kind of open-ended; I'm not ready to trash the album but I also found it maddening and brash. Brash is good sometimes, but here especially the feeling was that I was being hit over the head.
As an inner-city white kid, I've always been pushed and pulled by rap music. I can't approach this from any other position than as someone other than the "target demographic," though that is surely changing.
And for "chopped and screwed," I used the term loosely to relate to the digital plundering and manipulation going on here. It may not be the best term technically but I feel that it captures the spirit of inventiveness here.

the review was well-written, i don't know how on earth you can give this a 2 though

i can definitely understand where the "haters" come from
i like this album far more than exmilitary because it seems a little more subtle and more focused on the production and musicality rather than the punk aesthetic while still retaining the attitude of death grips, for want of a better word
