Terrible overrated joke of an album.
Opeth trying to be heavy an have an emotional theme at the same time is a colossal failure.
Clocking in over 1 hour, you may just die of boredom 5 minutes into the first song. The songs are structured poorly, dragging on with no memorable riffs.
I could dissect every song, but it all comes down to one thing... The oh so predictable Opeth formula.
- Throw together a song with a 70s prog riff
- Insert cute and soft emotional passage
- Transition between harsh to horrid clean vocals
- Cue acoustic noodling.
- Back to 'heavy'
Once you listen to the first song, the rest sounds the same. The songs go nowhere.
Opeth is trendy crap.
