"extremely overrated and hyped by the usual suspects."

Are you talking about this review? Because if so, how the hell is a 3.5 overrated?

I'm going to restrain myself and wait to hear this at the launch night at Plastic People before I award Actress album of the year two times in a row

At home with the sun streaming through the curtains yes. But this, like most London music, can only be fully appreciated live in some murky basement on a real soundsystem far away from the fleeting distractions of reality.

Are you saying this is not a real soundsystem?

Pretty sure he was talking about RA, maybe FACT as well (both 4.5's)

Don't know if p4k has covered this yet

It's definitely not a 4.5 for me (obviously), but I can see why people would rate it so high. Certainly from a technical standpoint.

Actress is one of those producers that I respect the hell out of but don't always enjoy his finished product.

Splazsh was so incredibly micro-detailed that I loved it despite some haphazard tracklisting woes. R.I.P will surely require several weeks for me to appreciate, but I am initially put off by the lack of weirdo techno bangers. Splazsh wasn't exactly constructed to burn up the dance floor, but tracks like "Get Ohn (Fairlight Mix)" and "Purrple Splazsh" were undeniably feet-moving.

Fucking fantastic album. Probably better than Splazsh, time will tell.

I was leaving a party once when Jackmaster opened his set with it. I recognized the tune but couldn't place it, did a little frustrated dance trying to work it out, finally remembered it and wound up staying for three more hours when he started playing Burial

I don't see what everyone thinks is so great about Actress

I mean, he's a good producer with some great tunes, but not as phenomenal as people keep telling me he is *shrug*
